Last week the FKN Army visited the Sipho-Senkosi Disabled Centre & Overnight in Ackerville, eMalahleni — a facility providing daily and overnight care for children and adults living with disabilities.
What we encountered was a place defined by patience, dignity, and unwavering compassion from the caregivers who support residents every single day.
A centre built on care
Sipho-Senkosi is more than a care facility — it is a home. Residents rely on continuous assistance and specialised support, while staff work tirelessly to ensure comfort, safety, hygiene, and stability. The level of care required is constant, and the dedication behind it is remarkable.
During our visit, the FKN Army team spent time with residents, connected with staff, and gained a deeper understanding of the daily realities at the centre. Moments of conversation, laughter, and quiet interaction reminded us why community-driven initiatives like this matter.
Delivering real support
Following our Money or the Doos giveaway, the FKN Army returned to Sipho-Senkosi to deliver the items made possible through the support of our community and partners.
The centre received:
A large supply of food and groceries to support daily meals
More than 10,000 children’s and adult diapers, a critical and ongoing necessity in disability care
Chest of drawers donated by Lotters Pine Furniture, providing practical storage for residents
Air conditioning units donated by Makulu Aircons, helping regulate indoor temperatures and improve comfort
These contributions directly address some of the centre’s most pressing needs and will make a meaningful difference in the day-to-day lives of the residents and caregivers.
Why this matters
Facilities like Sipho-Senkosi operate in an environment where needs never stop. Every day requires resources, patience, and extraordinary dedication from those who care for the community’s most vulnerable members.
Support like this ensures that residents experience not only care, but comfort and dignity.
Looking ahead
Our work with Sipho-Senkosi does not end here. The FKN Army plans to continue supporting the centre in the future, ensuring that essential needs are met and that this incredible facility never stands alone in the work it does.
Thank you for making things FKN Happen.
